What dose this article say at the end?
No, this sudden appearance of complex body plans mystified scientists in Darwin's day, and continues to pose a severe challenge -- Darwin's Dilemma, you might say -- to the modern theory of evolution.

The Holy Bible has 1000's Prophecies.
The importance of Bible prophecies.
Prophecies in the Bible are divine truths by God.
Prophecies in the Bible reveal God's will. Prophecies in the Bible are messages by God. Prophecies prove an intelligent God. Prophecies prove the Holy Bible as inspired by God.
Prophecies prove the Holy Bible as historical fact.
Prophecies prove the Holy Bible to be accurate and reliable.
Prophecies in the Holy Bible prove God is who He claims to be.
Prophecies confirm the prophets were inspired by God.
Prophecies must always be taken seriously. Not abiding to the Prophecies always has consequences
Beware therefore, lest that come upon you, which is spoken of in the prophets. Acts 13:40.

The Holy Bible we hold in our hands to day is the most accurate Historical text book the world has ever seen. It is believed to have at least 2500 prophecies of which 2000 have already been fulfilled with not one single mistake. This leaves 500 prophecies which we are now seeing happen and come true as we talk. It is also said the chances of all these prophecies developing independent of one another, is 1 in millions. If we seek we also find that not one single Archeological discovery has truly contradicted a Biblical reference in the Bible. So we have bible prophecies accurately fulfilled which is confirmed and proved by bible discoveries and Archeology. Proving over and over again that THE BIBLE IS INSPIRED BY THE WORD OF GOD.

The website states:
A scientist picked out 48 such prophecies and determined that the probability of one man randomly fulfilling them all is 1 in 10 to the exponent of 157. That is one followed by 157 zeros! Your chances of winning a typical lottery jackpot is about 1 in 108. (100,000,000) Yet, Jesus fulfilled all the prophecies.

For 100s of years there were over 100 prophecies that prophesied the coming of Jesus, saying He would be born from a virgin, He would fulfil the prophets prophecies, He would speak in parables, He would be crucified, He would be raised to life on the third day. Every single prophecy of Jesus Christ foretold was shockingly reliably accurate and fulfilled in every possible way. Watch: Over 100 Old Testament Bible prophecies fulfilled. There are now 300 prophecies left, predicted and foretold of Jesus returning for the second time. Are you saved?

The second temple was destroyed in 70AD. It was prophesied by Jesus himself in Matthew 24:2.

"Do you see all these things?" he asked. "Truly I tell you, not one stone here will be left on another; every one will be thrown down."

You can still find the stones here which were once toppled down by the Roman army when they invaded the Temple Mount, Just as Jesus had  prophesied.

Most of the events referred to in chs. 1–39 occurred during Isaiah’s ministry (see 6:114:2836:1), so these chapters may have been completed not long after 701 b.c., the year the Assyrian army was destroyed (see note on 10:16). The prophet lived until at least 681 (see note on 37:38) and may have written chs. 40–66 during his later years. In his message to the exiles of the sixth century b.c., Isaiah was projected into the future, just as Ezekiel was in Eze 40–48. READ FULL ARTICLE HERE By

Parallel Commentaries By Matthew Henry's Concise Commentary

53:1-3 No where in all the Old Testament is it so plainly and fully prophesied, that Christ ought to suffer, and then to enter into his glory, as in this chapter. But to this day few discern, or will acknowledge, that Divine power which goes with the word. The authentic and most important report of salvation for sinners, through the Son of God, is disregarded. The low condition he submitted to, and his appearance in the world, were not agreeable to the ideas the Jews had formed of the Messiah. It was expected that he should come in pomp; instead of that, he grew up as a plant, silently, and insensibly. He had nothing of the glory which one might have thought to meet with him. His whole life was not only humble as to outward condition, but also sorrowful. Being made sin for us, he underwent the sentence sin had exposed us to. Carnal hearts see nothing in the Lord Jesus to desire an interest in him. Alas! by how many is he still despised in his people, and rejected as to his doctrine and authority!

Pulpit Commentary

Verse 1. - Who hath believed? Isaiah felt that he spoke, mainly, to unbelieving ears (see above,Isaiah 28:9-15; Isaiah 29:10-15; Isaiah 30:9-11; Isaiah 42:23, etc.). The unbelief was likely to be intensified when so marvellous a prophecy was delivered as that which he was now commissioned to put forth. Still, of course, there is rhetorical exaggeration in the question, which seems to imply that no one would believe. Our report; literally, that which has been heard by us. But the word is used technically for a prophetic revelation (see Isaiah 28:9, 19; Jeremiah 49:14). Here it would seem to refer especially to the Messianic prophecies delivered by Isaiah. To whom is the arm of the Lord revealed? The "arm of the Lord," which has been "made bare in the eyes of all the nations" (Isaiah 52:10), yet requires the eye of faith to see it. Many Jews would not see the working of God's providence in the victories of Cyrus, or in the decision to which he came to restore the Jews to their own country. Unbelief can always assign the most plainly providential arrangements to happy accident.

Gill's Exposition of the Entire Bible

Who hath believed our report?.... Or "hearing" (a). Not what we hear, but others hear from us; the doctrine of the Gospel, which is a report of the love, grace, and mercy of God in Christ; of Christ himself, his person, offices, obedience, sufferings, and death, and of free and full salvation by him: it is a good report, a true and faithful one, and to be believed, and yet there are always but few that give credit to it; there were but few in the times of the Prophet Isaiah that believed what he had before reported, or was about to report, concerning the Messiah; and but few in the times of Christ and his apostles, whom the prophet here represented; for to those times are the words applied, John 12:38, the Jews had the report first made unto them, and saw the facts that were done, and yet believed not; when Gentile kings, and their subjects, listened with the most profound silence, and heard with the greatest attention and reverence, as in the latter part of the preceding chapter, to which some think this is opposed; wherefore some begin the text with the adversative particle "but". According to the Septuagint and Arabic versions, the words are directed to God the Father, for they render them, "Lord, who hath believed", &c.; and so they are quoted in the above places in the New Testament:

and to whom is the arm of the Lord revealed? meaning either the Gospel itself, the power of God unto salvation, hidden from the generality of men; for though externally, yet not internally revealed and made known; which to do is the Lord's work, and is owing to his special grace: or Christ, who is the power of God, by whom all the works of creation, providence, grace, and salvation, are wrought; and by whom the blessings of grace are dispensed; and by whom the Lord upholds all things, and supports his people; and who was not revealed but to a very few, as the true Messiah, as God's salvation, and in them the hope of glory: or else the powerful and efficacious grace of the Spirit, and the exertion and display of it, which is necessary to a true and spiritual believing the Gospel, and the report of it; which, unless it comes with the power and Spirit of God, is ineffectual.

Jamieson-Fausset-Brown Bible Commentary

Isa 53:1-12. Man's Unbelief: Messiah's Vicarious Sufferings, and Final Triumph for Man.

The speaker, according to Horsley, personates the repenting Jews in the latter ages of the world coming over to the faith of the Redeemer; the whole is their penitent confession. This view suits the context (Isa 52:7-9), which is not to be fully realized until Israel is restored. However, primarily, it is the abrupt exclamation of the prophet: "Who hath believed our report," that of Isaiah and the other prophets, as to Messiah? The infidel's objection from the unbelief of the Jews is anticipated and hereby answered: that unbelief and the cause of it (Messiah's humiliation, whereas they looked for One coming to reign) were foreseen and foretold.

1. report—literally, "the thing heard," referring to which sense Paul says, "So, then, faith cometh by hearing" (Ro 10:16, 17).

arm—power (Isa 40:10); exercised in miracles and in saving men (Ro 1:16; 1Co 1:18). The prophet, as if present during Messiah's ministry on earth, is deeply moved to see how few believed on Him (Isa 49:4; Mr 6:6; 9:19; Ac 1:15). Two reasons are given why all ought to have believed: (1) The "report" of the "ancient prophets." (2) "The arm of Jehovah" exhibited in Messiah while on earth. In Horsley's view, this will be the penitent confession of the Jews, "How few of our nation, in Messiah's days, believed in Him!"

Description and/or characterization of a person or a people.Isaiah son of Amoz is often thought of as the greatest of the writing prophets. His name means “The Lord saves.” He was a contemporary of Amos, Hosea and Micah, beginning his ministry in 740 b.c., the year King Uzziah died (see note on 6:1). According to an unsubstantiated Jewish tradition (The Ascension of Isaiah), he was sawed in half during the reign of Manasseh (cf.Heb 11:37). Isaiah was married and had at least two sons, Shear-Jashub (7:3) and Maher-Shalal-Hash-Baz (8:3). He probably spent most of his life in Jerusalem, enjoying his greatest influence under King Hezekiah (see 37:1–2). Isaiah is also credited with writing a history of the reign of King Uzziah (2Ch 26:22).

Many scholars today challenge the claim that Isaiah wrote the entire book that bears his name. Yet his is the only name attached to it (see 1:12:113:1). The strongest argument for the unity of Isaiah is the expression “the Holy One of Israel,” a title for God that occurs 12 times in chs. 1–39 and 14 times in chs. 40–66. Outside Isaiah it appears in the OT only 6 times. There are other striking verbal parallels between chs. 1–39 and chs. 40–66. Compare the following verses: READ FULL ARTICLE HERE

Bible prophecies ARE miracles. HERE WE HAVE Bible prophecies that PROVE the accuracy of the Bible. Bible prophecies fulfilled of Jesus.

The first Bible verses are in the OLD testament which were predicted 100's to 1000's of years before they was fulfilled.
The second Bible verses are in the NEW testament which were fulfilled 100's to 1000's of years.
Lets see if the Bible is reliable?
IT IS A FACT AND AMAZING TO KNOW
How did the prophets of God know? Unless God told them so. The method of the execution, called the crucifixion, was not invented, when the prophets of God were told. Yet 100's of years later, the Romans created a method of execution, called the crucifixion, that proves a fact, that God must of told, the prophets of Jesus, for the prophets to know, about Jesus crucifixion, that became the worst ever execution, that the prophets had already known. Proving a fact, that Jesus was who He claimed to be.
Prophesied 100's to 1000's of years before

UPDATE. I recently received an email from an atheist, applying that the 99.8% of US earth and life scientists support Evolution. He was their for applying the (ENORMOUS) percentage of people who believe in Evolution cannot be wrong. I have added his comment below in green.

Out of 480,000 US earth and life scientists (biologists, paleontologists, geologists, biochemists) only 700 give credence to creation-science (creationism or ID). That's less than 0.2% and more than 99.8% of US earth and life scientists support Evolution. So you are accusing 99.8% of biologists, geologists, paleontologists etc, that they are spreading a massive lie (according to you) and conspiring, faking experiment results, and being intellectually dishonest. Is that what you are saying?

My reply
Yes I believe you could be right on this first point. I had already stated this in my very popular book. That there are ONLY about 5 percent of the population who are saved. HERE
Who know the truth. Who have given their lives to Jesus and will be raised to eternal life. Most born again believers already know this. It was another one of 1000's of fulfilled prophecies yet again told by Jesus over 2000 year ago confirming yet again the accuracy of His teachings.

Verses by King James Bible.

O righteous Father, the world hath not known thee: but I have known thee, and these have known that thou hast sent me. John 17:25.

But all these things will they do unto you for my name’s sake, because they know not him that sent me. John 15:21.

And these things will they do unto you, because they have not known the Father, nor me. John 16:3.

Then said they unto him, Where is thy Father? Jesus answered, Ye neither know me, nor my Father: if ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also. John 8:19.

But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost. 2 Corinthians 4:3.

It is also prophesied that the God of this world Satan would blind people from the truth, again fulfilling Bible PROPHECIES. Which confirms why about 95 percent of the population are NOT saved because they do not believe as he confirmed the accuracy of the Bible.

In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. 2 Corinthians 4:4.

Jesus also prophesied unless people accept Him they would NOT know the truth. Just as we see with about 95 percent of the population who are NOT saved because they do not believe or know Him.

But their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same vail untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which vail is done away in Christ. 2 Corinthians 3:14.

I am receiving many emails from people who have given up their faith in God and now follow Evolution. This is a Bible prophecy fulfilled every day
Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils.

They have not known nor understood: for he hath shut their eyes, that they cannot see; and their hearts, that they cannot understand. Isaiah 44:18.

Hear now this, O foolish people, and without understanding; which have eyes, and see not; which have ears, and hear not. Jeremiah 5:21.

Jesus told us. The lesson of the Fig TreeIn (Mark 13:28-31; Luke 21:29-33)
Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh.

How good are you at reading signs? By the parable of the Fig Tree. Jesus expects his disciples to read the signs of the times.
And nearly (ALL) the signs of Jesus returning are here.

As is the Bible prophecy of the most fearful time in human history for those who are not born again. Called (THE GREAT TRIBULATION)

For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened. Matthew 24:21 - 22. King James Bible

The International Monetary Fund has warned that a housing bubble could derail the UK's economic recovery, as it urged the government to consider reining in the Help to Buy scheme and called on the Bank of England to clamp down on risky mortgages. Guardian News and Media.

And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.

Persecution of Christians.
Every day Christians are Persecuted for their faith. ABOUT 1 EVERY 3 MINUTES.

Confirming with Bible prophecies fulfilled by Jesus Christ when He said in Matthew 24:8 - 12.
All these are the beginning of sorrows. 9 Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake.10 And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another. 11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. 12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.

Inside the Looming Food Crisis
Extreme weather, booming populations make building the food supply a challenge. By Dennis Dimick National Geographic.

Pastor Caspar McCloud states:
The devil is still out numbered and he has limited power. Satan comes with all signs and lying wonders.
According to a study revealed by the "Elite Daily', that there are now more people in England who believe in UFO's than God! Statistics are showing that roughly 33 million UK citizens believe in the existence of aliens while only 27 million believe in the existence of God.
The UFO phenomenon is real, burgeoning and not going away, research confirms it is only increasing and I believe UFO manifestations are a major component for us to understand these end times we are now living in. While most of the church appears to choose to ignore the phenomena, I believe it is part of The Coming Great Deception.
Why do these people who have been abducted by them believe they are coming here in the near future?
WHY? are people found abducted against their own will, with some kind of microchip implant that have to be removed? Could these chip implants be something to do with the prophecy of the mark of the beast? 666, which is the sign of the Antichrist, and is mentioned in Revelation 13:15-18.
It certainly seems a coincidence.
I find it interesting that there is a theory about the number 666 being the notorious Emperor Nero a Roman emperor who persecuted Christians. Tradition says Nero had the Apostle Paul beheaded about 64 or 65 A.D. And again we have another prophecy saying Christians who do not take the mark of the beast 666 will be beheaded in Revelation 20:4.
King James Bible:
And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.
Lets pray we are one of the 5 wise virgins in Matthew 25:1 to 13, and will escape the beheading in Revelation 20:4. And the worst part of THE GREAT TRIBULATION.
For looking up and being ready for Jesus to return at any day.
King James Bible:
I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name.
Revelation 3:8.
Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come. Matthew 24:40 - 42.

King James Version (KJV)

The Bible clearly predicts In the last days there will be increased ''wickedness'' and evil in the world.

UPDATE 25/8/2014. Thanks to my friend Jeremy I have added the article below by Grant R.Jeffrey.

Dead sea scrolls Fragment 4Q521
This was found in cave 4. The great debate by Grant R.Jeffrey. Page 64 to 65.
This scroll declares that the Messiah will display supernatural powers identical to those described in the Gospels
The heavens and the earth will obey his Messiah  the sea and All that is in them.
He will not turn aside from the commandments of the Holy ones.
Take strength in His mighty work all yea who seek the Lord.
Will ye not find Him with hope in your hearts.
Surely the Lord will seek out the pious and will call the righteous by name.
His Spirit will hover over the poor by his might will He restore the faithful
He will glorify the pious on the throne of the eternal kingdom.
He will release the captives ,  make the blind see , raise up the down trodden.
Forever I will cleave to Him against the most powerful and I will trust and trust in His loving kindness and in His goodness forever.
His Holy Messiah will not be slow in coming . And as for the wonders  that are not the work of the lord.
When He , that is the Messiah , comes then He will heal the sick , resurrect the dead  , and to the poor announce glad tidings
He will the Holy ones , He will do  all of it.

The Messianic parallels between this scroll  and the teachings of the New Testament are astonishing.
This 2,000 years old Jewish Essene document from Qumran reveals a number  of prophecies about the coming Messiah  that are virtually identical to Christian teachings about Jesus Christ as detailed in the four Gospels.

1) The Messiah is divinely supernatural  , not just a man like Moses -----The heavens and the earth will obey his Messiah ( Psalm 110:1-7. Ephesians 1:20-22 )
2) He is righteous -------- He will not turn aside from the commandment of the Holy  Ones ( Isaiah 53:9 )
3)  He will rule forever ---- the throne of the eternal Kingdom ( Isaiah 9:6-7 , Revelation 21:3-5 )
4) He will act as the High Priest  in the year of jubilee ----- He will release the captives ( Isaiah 61:1 ; Luke 4:18 )
5) He will miraculous heal the blind --make the blind see ( Isaiah 42:7 ; John 9:25-33 )
6) The Messiah will supernaturally  heal the sick and resurrect the dead ( Isaiah 35:5-6 ; Matthew 11:4-6 )
7) He will cone down from Heaven with a heavenly army--------He will lead the holy ones ( Deuteronomy 33:2; Revelation 19:14-15 )
So the text that is the subject of this article  (4Q521 is speaking  of a single Messiah.
The Messiah of our text is thus much closer to the Christian Messiah.
This outside of the Bible is so clear as to The Lord Jesus being The Messiah.

The great debate by Grant R.Jeffrey.
What's the odds of these 17 prophecies in the old testament about the coming Messiah.

What are the chances that all 17 of these predictions occurred in the life of a single man rather by the divine plan of God .
The combined probability against these 17 predictions occurring is equal to
1 chance in 480 billion  x 1 billion x 1 trillion or
1 chance in 480,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000
In other words there is only 1 chance in 480 billion x 1 billion x 1 trillion that the Old Testament Prophets could have accurately predicted these 17 specific prophecies.  The great debate by Grant R.Jeffrey.

A comparison of the lives of Moses and Jesus reveals fitty elements common to both lives , many of which were beyond the ability of any human to control.
Consider the unusual multiple roles that Moses and Jesus both played  : prophet , priest , lawgiver  , teacher , a leader of men.
Both taught new truths from God , and both confirmed their teaching with miracles
1) both spent their early years in Egypt ,supernaturally protected from the evil kings who sought their lives.
2) Moses family initially did not accept his role  , but latter his brother Aaron and sister Miriam helped him.
Jesus brothers and sisters initially  failed to follow Jesus  , but latter James became the leader in the church in Jerusalem.
3) each of them was considered the wisest man of his day both confronted demonic powers and successfully subdued them .
4) Moses appointed 70 rulers to rule Israel , Jesus anointed 70 disciples to teach the nations.
5) Moses sent 12 spies to explore Canaan,
Jesus sent 12 Apostles to reach the world with the Gospel.
6) both fasted for 40 days and faced spiritual crises on mountain tops
7) just as Moses stretched his hand over the Red Sea to command it to part to save The Israelites , so Jesus rebuked the Sea of Galilee and quieted the waves to save His disciples.
8) both of their faces shone with the glory of heaven Moses on Mount Sinai and Jesus on the mount of Transfiguration.
9) while Moses rescued Israel from the dead religion of pagan Egypt, Jesus rescued Israel from the dead letter of tradition.
10) Moses and Jesus both cured lepers and proved their spiritual authority through miracles they performed before many witnesses.
11) Moses conquered Israel's great enemy the Amalekites with upraised arms
Jesus conquered our great enemies of sin and death by His upraised arms on the cross.
12) Moses lifted up the brazen serpent in the wilderness to heal his people , Jesus was lifted up on the Cross to heal all believers from their sin
13) Despite the spiritual leadership of Moses and Jesus the Jewish people were ungrateful to both me and rebelled against them.
14) both generations that rebelled against the two men sent from God died due to their lack of faith.
15) one generation died in the wilderness of Sinai and the other died in the siege of Jerusalem in A.D.70
16) Moses promised that God would send his people another Prophet , Jesus promised His church that His Father would send another Comforter  The Holy Spirit.
17) on the 14th day of Nisan which was the Feast of Passover  , both freed all who would trust them.
18) on  the 17th day , The Feasts of First fruits Moses brought about the resurrection of the children of Israel by taking them through the parted Red Sea , on the Feast of First fruits  Jesus resurrected the resurrection of all believers by becoming the symbolical  First Fruits of resurrection as He arose from the dead .
19) Fifty days after the Jews passed through the Red Sea on the Feast of Pentecost God gave Israel the gift of the Torah , the Law of God   50 days after Jesus resurrection  , on the Feast
Of Pentecost, God gave His Church the great gift of the baptism of the Holy Spirit.
The evidence is compelling that Jesus truly was the prophesied Messiah , the" Prophet like unto Moses

Matthew 11:15. Historicity of Jesus
Historicity of Jesus for unlearned unbelievers.
Dear friends. Thank you for joining me in this next article where I will be continuing from the last two articles regarding unbelievers.

I believe we must continue to demonstrate, show and prove to the unlearned unbelievers, the truth.
By testifying the truth, by helping them to see they are wrong regarding their belief of the Bible.

St Paul stated: Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.
 1 Thessalonians 5:21

Here is another one of many sad comments I received just this morning.

+Simon Brown
How sad for you personally, shutting your eyes from reality.
There is proof for forgery and lies of every part of the bible, from what other myth it was copied, who did it, when, that Christianism deleted  the documents disproving their cult when they were in power, banning and burning books of historians and inventing Heaven and Hell.
Pray to God, if you get an answer search a psychiatrist.

Well friends I think it is great to have witnessing tools to prove how wrong the misinformed unbelievers are. I find the unlearned unbelievers often send me pages from the Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia that sometimes has information against the truth of the Bible.

In this case I was able to turn their methods of using the Wikipedia back on themselves, by using their own methods to shoot themselves in the foot.

In short the Wikipedia article confirms two very important facts. That there is historical evidence of Jesus being baptised and crucified. Yes and He was crucified by the Romans.
Two of the most important facts of the Christian faith confirmed by Scholars who attribute varying levels of certainty.

Historicity of Jesus.
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

Below is an article from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. Called Historicity of Jesus.
I believe the Wikipedia site is a good place to read information on Jesus because many will say articles and information supporting Jesus is always on religious and biased websites. Therefor they refuse to accept articles about Jesus as being true or genuine.
However most understand the Wikipedia sites have no personal bias or beliefs in God.
Some may say that the Wikipedia sites are not a place to do serious researchHowever they fail to understand Wikipedia articles are written by many different experts scientists, ''ARCHAEOLOGIST'' scholars, historians and researchers on the subjects in which all the Notes and References of them are added at the bottom of their articles.

The historicity of Jesus concerns the analysis of historical evidence to determine whether Jesus of Nazareth existed as a historical figure, and whether any of the major milestones in his life as portrayed in the gospels can be confirmed as historical events. Historicity is the historical actuality or authenticity of persons and events, as opposed to being mythlegend, or fiction.

The historicity of Jesus is distinct from the related study of the historical Jesus, which refers to scholarly reconstructions of the life of Jesus based primarily on critical analysis of the gospel texts.

Since the 18th century a number of quests for the historical Jesus have taken place, and historical critical methods for studying the historicity of Jesus have been developed. Unlike for some figures in ancient history, the available sources are all documentary. In conjunction with Biblical sources such as the Pauline Letters and the Synoptic Gospels, three passages in non-Christian works have been used to support the historicity of Jesus. These are two passages in the writings of the Jewish historian Josephus, and one from the Roman historian Tacitus. Although the authenticity of all three passages has been disputed to varying degrees, most scholars believe that all three are at least partially authentic.

The majority viewpoint among scholars is that Jesus existed, but scholars differ about the beliefs and teachings of Jesus as well as the accuracy of the parts of his life that have been recorded in the Gospels. Scholars who believe that Jesus existed differ on the historicity of specific episodes described in the Biblical accounts,

but most scholars agree that Jesus was a GalileanJew who was born between 7-4 BC and died 30-36 AD, that Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist, that he was crucified by the order of the Roman PrefectPontius Pilate and that he lived in Galilee and Judea and did not preach or study elsewhere. The theory that Jesus never existed at all has very little scholarly support.

Historicity is the historical actuality or historical authenticity of a person or event, as opposed to being a mythlegend, or fiction. Historicity focuses on the truth value of knowledge claims about the past (denoting historical actuality, authenticity, and factuality.) The historicity of a claim about the past is its factual status.

Questions regarding historicity concern not just the issue of "what really happened," but also the issue of how modern observers can come to know "what really happened."This second issue is closely tied to historical research practices and methodologies for analyzing the reliability of primary sources and other evidence.

Evidence of Jesus

The sources for the historicity of Jesus are mainly Christian sources, such as the gospels and the purported letters of the apostles. The authenticity and reliability of these sources has been questioned by many scholars, and few events mentioned in the gospels are universally accepted.

There are three mentions of Jesus in non-Christian sources, which have been used in historical analyses of the existence of Jesus. These are two mentions in the works of 1st-century Roman historian Josephus and one mention in the works of the 2nd-century Roman historian Tacitus.

Josephus' Antiquities of the Jews, written around 93-94 AD, includes two references to the biblical Jesus Christ in Books 18 and 20. The general scholarly view is that while the longer passage, known as the Testimonium Flavianum, is most likely not authentic in its entirety, it is broadly agreed upon that it originally consisted of an authentic nucleus, which was then subject to Christian interpolation or forgery. Of the other mention in Josephus, Josephus scholar Louis H. Feldman has stated that "few have doubted the genuineness" of Josephus' reference to Jesus in Antiquities 20, 9, 1 and it is only disputed by a small number of scholars.

Roman historian Tacitus referred to Christus and his execution by Pontius Pilate in his Annals (written ca. AD 116), book 15, chapter 44. The very negative tone of Tacitus' comments on Christians make the passage extremely unlikely to have been forged by a Christian scribe and the Tacitus reference is now widely accepted as an independent confirmation of Christ's crucifixion, although some scholars question the authenticity of the passage on various different grounds.

Classical historian Michael Grant wrote that:

If we apply to the New Testament, as we should, the same sort of criteria as we should apply to other ancient writings containing historical material, we can no more reject Jesus' existence than we can reject the existence of a mass of pagan personages whose reality as historical figures is never questioned.

Accepted historic facts.

Virtually all modern scholars of antiquity agree that Jesus existed, and most biblical scholars and classical historians see the theories of his non-existence as effectively refuted. In antiquity, the existence of Jesus was never denied by those who opposed Christianity. Geoffrey Blainey notes that a few scholars have argued that Jesus did not exist, but writes that Jesus' life was in fact "astonishingly documented" by the standards of the time - more so than any of his contemporaries - with numerous books, stories and memoirs written about him. The problem for the historian, wrote Blainey, is not therefore, determining whether Jesus actually existed, but rather in considering the "sheer multitude of detail and its inconsistencies and contradictions". There is, however, widespread disagreement among scholars on the details of the life of Jesus mentioned in the gospel narratives, and on the meaning of his teachings.

According to New Testament scholar James Dunn, nearly all modern scholars consider the baptism of Jesus and his crucifixion to be historically certain. He states that these "two facts in the life of Jesus command almost universal assent" and "rank so high on the 'almost impossible to doubt or deny' scale of historical facts" that they are often the starting points for the study of the historical Jesus.

Bart D. Ehrman states that the existence of Jesus and his crucifixion by the Romans is attested to by a wide range of sources including Josephus and Tacitus. John P. Meier views the crucifixion of Jesus as historical fact and states that based on the criterion of embarrassment Christians would not have invented the painful death of their leader. Meier states that a number of other criteria, e.g. the criterion of multiple attestation (i.e. confirmation by more than one source), the criterion of coherence (i.e. that it fits with other historical elements) and the criterion of rejection (i.e. that it is not disputed by ancient sources) help establish the crucifixion of Jesus as a historical event. Biblical scholar John Dominic Crossan, highly skeptical with regard to the Gospel accounts of miracles, wrote in 1995

That (Jesus) was crucified is as sure as anything historical can ever be, since both Josephus and Tacitus... agree with the Christian accounts on at least that basic fact.

One of the arguments in favour of the historicity of the baptism of Jesus by John is that it is a story which the early Christian Church would have never wanted to invent, typically referred to as the criterion of embarrassment in historical analysis. Based on this criterion, given that John baptised for the remission of sins, and Jesus was viewed as without sin, the invention of this story would have served no purpose, and would have been an embarrassment given that it positioned John above Jesus. The Gospel of Matthew attempts to offset this problem by having John feel unworthy to baptise Jesus and Jesus giving him permission to do so in Matthew 3:14-15.

Leading historian of ancient history Robin Lane Fox states "Jesus was born in Galilee". Co-director of Ancient Cultures Research Centre at Macquarie University, Sydney, Australia Alanna Nobbs has stated "While historical and theological debates remain about the actions and significance of this figure, his fame as a teacher, and his crucifixion under the Roman prefect Pontius Pilate, may be described as historically certain."

Amy-Jill Levine has summarized the situation by stating that "there is a consensus of sorts on the basic outline of Jesus' life" in that most scholars agree that Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist, and over a period of one to three years debated Jewish authorities on the subject of God, gathered followers, and was crucified by Roman prefect Pontius Pilate who officiated 26-36 AD.

There is much in dispute as to his previous life, childhood, family and place of residence, of which the canonical gospels are almost completely silent. This silence is a problematic fact in explaining the historiography of Jesus. It has been suggested that it was the result of a conflict between the Nazarene Jewish followers of Jesus, led by his brother James, and the nascent Gentilic Christians led by the Apostle Paul.

Scholars attribute varying levels of certainty to other episodes. E.P. Sanders and Craig A. Evans independently state that there are two other incidents in the life of Jesus that can be considered historical: that Jesus called disciples, and that he caused a controversy at the Temple. This extended view assumes that there are eight elements about Jesus and his followers that can be viewed as historical facts-four episodes in the life of Jesus and four about him and his followers, namely:

  • Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist. He called disciples. He had a controversy at the Temple. Jesus was crucified by the Romans near Jerusalem.
  • Jesus was a Galilean. His activities were confined to Galilee and Judea. After his death his disciples continued. Some of his disciples were persecuted.

Scholarly agreement on this extended list is not universal.

The Mishnah (c. 200) may refer to Jesus and reflect the early Jewish traditions of portraying Jesus as a sorcerer or magician. Other possible references to Jesus and his execution may exist in the Talmud, but they also aim to discredit his actions, not deny his existence.

Myth theory
Main article: Christ myth theory

The Christ myth theory is the proposition that Jesus of Nazareth never existed, or if he did, he had virtually nothing to do with the founding of Christianity and the accounts in the gospels.

The theory that Jesus never existed at all has very little scholarly support.

DID Tacitus provide a non-Christian confirmation of the crucifixion of Jesus?
Hello friends. I do hope and pray love and blessings on you.

I would like to share with you an interesting comment I received only today from an atheist saying: Simon Brown Let's not move the goal posts. I'll be happy to discuss any other issues, after you answer what I asked: why would Tacitus, a meticulous historian, not mention hundreds of zombies walking around after Jesus' death, including Jesus himself?

Well this person encouraged me to do some research on the man Tacitus, as I am not familiar with him.
After some hours I discovered there were lots of articles about him. As always many believers believe the writings to be genuine while some are not so convinced.

I found it interesting how this atheist wanted to prove me wrong, but instead proved himself wrong.

Well last week I reported to you about some Bible discovery hoaxes. But this week from my research I personally believe this Tacitus (text copied by a monk in the 11th century) to be genuine. However you decide. I look forward to hearing what you believe.

Tacitus on Christ. From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

The Roman historian and senator Tacitus referred to Christhis execution by Pontius Pilate and the existence of early Christians in Rome in his final work, Annals (written ca. AD 116), book 15, chapter 44.[1]

The context of the passage is the six-day Great Fire of Rome that burned much of the city in AD 64 during the reign of Roman Emperor Nero. The passage is one of the earliest non-Christian references to the origins of Christianity, the execution of Christ described in the Canonical gospels, and the presence and persecution of Christians in 1st-century Rome.

Scholars generally consider Tacitus's reference to the execution of Jesus by Pontius Pilate to be both authentic, and of historical value as an independent Roman source. Eddy and Boyd state that it is now "firmly established" that Tacitus provides a non-Christian confirmation of the crucifixion of Jesus. However, there have been suggestions that the 'Christ, the author of this name, was executed by the procurator Pontius Pilate in the reign of Tiberius' line is a Christian interpolation.

Historian Ronald Mellor has stated that the Annals is "Tacitus's crowning achievement" which represents the "pinnacle of Roman historical writing". Scholars view it as establishing three separate facts about Rome around AD 60: (i) that there were a sizable number of Christians in Rome at the time, (ii) that it was possible to distinguish between Christians and Jews in Rome, and (iii) that at the time pagans made a connection between Christianity in Rome and its origin in Roman Judea

I am Simon Brown. May God bless you.

The many bible discoveries and information on this web site proves the Holy Bible to be forensically accurate and perfectly reliable in every possible way and in every detail truthful concerning the most important events in human history.

The whole purpose of this website is to help bring people to the saving grace of Jesus Christ. Some need evidence, others do not. I hope that the evidence shown on this site helps you make a decision for the Lord.

When we “believe” that Jesus Christ truly died on the cross for our sins and if we believe that Jesus rose from the dead, and follow Him by taking up our cross, you shall be saved.

1 Thessalonians 4:14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.
Luke 9:23 And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.

Some need physical proof... well here it is. Some simply believe. The Bible says, “Blessed are those who have not seen, yet hath believed.” Whether you believe what I’ve shared in this website or not, and you have not yet received this free gift of salvation through Jesus Christ our Lord, now is the day. Let today be the day of your salvation!

If you are looking for the evidence of the bible, God or Jesus, here it is. It is time to turn away from our sins, believe and receive salvation, and follow Jesus. Amen.

He who has ears let him hear. Matthew 11:15. KJV. That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9, (NIV)
